It’s rather pitiful to perch atop dry wood as if in a henhouse, to sit lined up like metal pitchers on a drinking fountain while fancy pillows, palace pillows or sofa cushions are there to be had. Sitting on the floor, on a cushion, dispenses with grandeur, but equality is akin to sitting on the same level as a cat or a bustling ant. If you sit on the floor, on a cushion, you can stretch out and then sit up whenever you want. Clothes are comfortable and loose while sitting on a cushion, time flows according to its own rules, and that which is anxious and hurried atop a chair is not what wants to be quickly discussed and forgotten without the offering of a relief. If all the chairs were toppled and all the seats pushed over, no one could say they didn’t deserve it. They may as well stay there all askew if they want it so much.

Erkân minderleri, divanhane minderleri, olmadı sofa sedirleri dururken kuru tahta üstüne pinliğe çıkar gibi tünemek, sebil maşrapası gibi yan yana dizilmek pek acı. Yere, mindere oturmak büyüklüğü de alır oysa bir eşitliktir kedi ile aceleci karınca ile bir seviyede durmak. Yere, mindere oturan biraz uzanabilir de, doğruluverir de hemen isteyince. Kıyafet de rahat ve geniştir minderde, zaman da kendi hükmünce akar, sandalye tepesindeki gibi sinirli ve acelesi olan hızlıca anlatılıp çaresi sunulmadan geçip gitmek isteyen değildir. Devrilse bütün sandalyeler, yan yatırılsa koltuklar kimse hak etmediler diyemez. Çok istiyorsa dursun bari öyle kendi eğriliğince.
